Nearly 500 technical staff at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center are participating in an 8-day unfair labor practice strike April 22-30. Workers have been bargaining for a contract since November. While union members proposed solutions to the hospital’s chronic understaffing, Providence proposed stripping workers’ health and dental benefits and making these high-skill jobs among the lowest paid in the region.

Rochester Democrat and Chronicle & Canandaigua Daily Messenger journalists unanimously authorized a strike over parent company Gannett’s unfair labor practices. Workers are on strike beginning Saturday, April 6. Union members have been working without a contract for five years.

After nearly three years of bargaining for their first contract with parent company Gannett, the journalists at the Austin American-Statesman have yet to receive a serious offer from the company with livable wages and a benefits package that won't amount to a pay cut.

On Friday, March 22 Long Beach Post and Business Journal CEO Melissa Evans began making calls to Long Beach Post workers telling them they've been laid off. These layoffs come as workers are demanding union recognition to protect their jobs and continue to cover the Long Beach community.

Unionized graduate workers are set to begin a strike on Monday, March 25. The union, which represents over 3,500 workers, has been bargaining with the school since June 2023. BU Administration has continued to reject their proposals for a living wage, comprehensive healthcare, childcare subsidies, dental care and more.

Editorial workers at LexisNexis-owned Law360 have walked off the job in a 24-hour work stoppage to protest layoffs that violate labor law. Just a month ago, LexisNexis executives congratulated themselves on the company achieving its highest revenue growth in decades. The same day, management announced they would lay off 26 members of the Law360 Union.

REI SoHo was the first location to unionize in March 2022. Since then they have been fighting for a fair contract, while REI engages in unfair labor practices. On February 15th workers found out REI would be withholding merit raises from all union stores. Workers in Soho walked off the job on February 17th on an unfair labor practices strike.

Roughly 90 registered nurses at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Home Care Service expect to begin a two-week strike at 7am on Feb. 10. The union has met 40 times with management since February 2023 without reaching agreement on a new contract.

The workers who are responsible for designing, printing, distributing, advertising sales, accounts receivable, and content creation for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette are on strike. They have not had a pay raise in over 15 years and went on strike over the illegal, unilateral cuts to their healthcare made by the millionaire owners of the paper.
